Sad to see influencers telling you about how a chemical bomb like bread is a good addition to your healthy lifestyle.
As a home baker, I feel that there are certain things that the general public should learn about bread to understand why eating it on a regular basis is bad.
Its primary ingredients are flour, water, salt and yeast and being a wheat product it has a tendency to become as hard as a rock just like how rotis and naan start becoming hard after they start cooling down.
Commercial bakeries add a lot of dough enhancers to ensure that the dough remains soft for a long time in addition to a lot of sugar to increase their shelf life.
Try to look for bread with minimal ingredients and ensure that the expiry date is not too long. If your bread doesn’t go bad after 2-3 days of baking, then it a red flag saying that it has been slathered with preservatives so it is best to limit their consumption. Another sign to look out for is that wheat has this tendency to become brick hard after it cools down after cooking a sign which you see in rotis that you make. If your bread becomes brick hard, then that is also a sign of really good bread with clean ingredients. If it is hard to find, your body will thank you if you stick to whole wheat rotis instead.
