  1. We dont have thanksgiving, but for Christmas I make a mushroom wellington. I grind my own wheat and use my flour and Flora Buttery, a plant based vegan butter. The filling is lots of veg but mainly mushrooms. Then we have roast parsnips, onion, carrot. Mashed swede, fried,no oil, Brussels sprouts with shallots, sage and onion stuffing, which is not like the stuffing you have, although it’s made from bread, lots of herbs and baked until the top is crispy, often steamed greens and any other veg we like, and the stars of the show, lots of crispy roast potatoes, and mini Yorkshire puddings. Gravy, again nothing like the white sauce you have as gravy, and I love bread sauce but not cranberry, I consider that as jam. Then we would have a year old, at least, brandy fed home made Christmas pudding, with brandy sauce, custard or vanilla ice cream. Next day for lunch, Boxing day and also a bank Holiday, we take any left over vegetables, mash them together and fry them in a frying pan, to make into one big bubble and squeak, its delicious. Season with whatever you fancy, serve with any vegan sauce I have made, cheese sauce is lovely with it. Our celebrations carry on through to New Year with many of our favourite dishes especially the upscale ones. Many employers give a whole week for Christmas especially if it covers a couple of weekends as we get two bank holiday days for Christmas and New Years day is another Bank Holiday. So if any of them fall on a weekend we get them given on the Monday and Tuesday and following Monday instead. So we would have Saturday to Tuesday inclusive then Saturday to Monday inclusive. So if our employers don’t give us a week, we would take the three days in the middle as part of our Annual Holiday days, we would have 10 days off but only using up 3 days of the statutory 28 days we have as annual holiday entitlement. That’s not including all the Bank Holidays we get. In the UK we get around 5 weeks paid holiday as a minimum.
So, for us, Christmas is a big celebration and we make the most of all the time off. ❤

  2. Christmas dinner is always a vegan Polish feast. I start with barscz served with homemade pumpernickel and then a little mizeria. Main course is pierogi, golupki, kapusta with homemade vegan kielbasa, krokiety, The vegan sour cream is flying everywhere lol. For dessert, kolaçki with strong black French pressed French roast decaf coffee. Wanna come?
Thanksgiving I stuff an acorn squash with fruits and nuts and veganize the sides.
